Diabetes Control

Getting diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes can be overwhelming and scary, but there are steps you can take to manage your condition and improve your overall health.

Type 2 Diabetes

  1. Learn about diabetes: Understanding the basics of diabetes, such as what it is, how it affects your body, and how to manage it, is the first step.  Speak with your doctor or a diabetes educator to learn more about diabetes.
  2. Manage your blood sugar levels: Maintaining healthy blood sugar levels is important to avoid complications. Your doctor will likely recommend lifestyle changes, such as regular exercise and a healthy diet, and may prescribe medication or insulin.
  3. Make healthy lifestyle choices: A healthy diet and regular exercise can help improve your blood sugar levels, reduce your risk of heart disease and other complications, and help you maintain a healthy weight.
  4. Monitor your blood pressure and cholesterol: High blood pressure and cholesterol can contribute to diabetes complications. Regular monitoring and management can help reduce your risk.
  5. Stay on top of your doctor appointments: Regular visits with your doctor can help you manage your diabetes and prevent complications.  See below for how we can help.
  6. Connect with others: Joining a support group or finding a diabetes community can provide emotional support and helpful tips for managing your condition.

Remember, managing diabetes is a lifelong commitment, but you can live a healthy and fulfilling life with the right care and support.
